Bloodshot iolite. Galaxy iolite. This rare iolite sunstone crystal sphere is known by many names.

Naturally alchemizing deep violet blue iolite and brilliant golden sunstone, rainbow sunstone stars shimmer around rare pockets of green tourmaline.

Weighing 3/4 of a pound, this piece is uncommonly large for this uncommon stone.

Sunstone in deep, gemmy iolite is the exception, not the rule. It’s far less likely to find iolite with sunstone inclusions deep enough to create a sphere of this size.

This is a stone which has always sung to my heart. I spent years hoping to find a family of pieces which felt called to this space, and it took me months to create this listing.

There is a wealth of information online about most crystals, and, one of the first things I learned when I embarked on this path is that stones are very much in choice when it comes to stepping forward.

It became clear that it’s not a thing I can force. At least not in a way which feels aligned for me.

Every piece has its own story. It’s own being, and it became clear to me that each piece knows its path home. It knows what it wants to say, when it wants to say it.

I write these words, and I also know that they don’t necessarily feel like mine. I use images, language, striving to give size and shape to the spirit of the piece.

Over these years I’ve come to believe that I am holding space for these crystal beings as they hold space for us. Becoming a conduit for what they feel called to share continues to feel like a gift without measure.

Light unveils the brilliant rainbow sunstone inclusions.

Also sometimes called water sapphire, a current of sunstone lattice ebbs and flows beneath the stormy waters of translucent, dark indigo blue and violet iolite.

In this wild stone, this current of rainbow confetti sunstone saturates nearly the entirety of this blue cordierite crystal being.

Though difficult to capture the full breath of its manifestation in photo and video given that natural lightning is only ever used, in hand this large crystal sphere comes to life.

Found in India, this rare crystal specimen is deeply associated with the violet ray.

Iolite calls in the element of air. Resonant with our third eye, its one of the most profound allies I’ve met for leaning into our innate connection to intuition.

A visionary of truth, iolite doesn’t dismiss the thinking mind.

It acknowledges the whole of our extraordinary being. That we are both human and infinite. That our magic exists in the spaces where our fullest expression is truth.

Though this concurrence is rare, sunstone in iolite moves with such a sense of intentionality.

The air element stokes the flames of sunstone’s fiery nature. Our spirit’s calling meets our primal desire to move, and we’re invited to embody this alchemical reaction.
