Known for its unique, fibrous blue and silver rutile strands, tara quartz was originally thought to be an expression of blue amphibole with inclusions of olienite.

Through repeated mineral testing we have come to understand these rare crystal beings as manifestations of natural lithium quartz with prismatic tourmaline and indications of blue dumortierite.

Orginally mined out, these wild stones were rediscovered in Itacambira in 2022. Atop a mountain, every piece is land mined.

Over several days, tools are carried up and everything is carried back down, as weather allows. Bringing these extraordinary expression of tourmaline quartz forward is an act of devotion.

Tara quartz moves with an embodied sense of intention, seemingly stepping forward only as it feels called to do so.

While I can’t say whether these are the last we’ll see of these rare expressions, their minings are sporadic and likely finite, each iteration moving out into the world so uniquely itself.

Tara translates to “star,” and in Tibetan cultures, Tara manifests as a female incantation of the Buddha.

From the Sinhalese word, “Turamali,” Tourmaline translates to “something small from the earth.”

Both pyroelectric and piezoelectric, Tourmaline has been long regarded for its exceptional capacity to move energy and support healing.

Blue Tourmaline is considered one of the rarest forms of this stone and is known for its ability to support the expansion of consciousness.

Blue Tourmaline, or Indicolite, supports our capacity to tune into higher frequencies by evoking the energy of “the peaceful mind.”
